MODULUS : A spatial modelling tool for integrated environmental decision-making.

Dr Mark Mulligan, King's College London

Introduction

A number of simulation models for desertification processes have been developed over the last 10 years of EU funded research. Many of these are reviewed in Mulligan (2004). The MODULUS project was a 2 year EU-funded project which aimed to bring a number of these research models together within the context of an opertaional decision support system aimed at regional policy-makers and applied in the Marina Baixa, SE Spain and the Argolid of Greece.

The project is summarised at RIKS
King's College London developed the hydrology, crop growth, climate and erosion models, based on the PATTERN model
